Ok, I ran the bike all summer with no problems. The other day I go out to start the bike and nothing. The battery is fully charged, ignition is on, bikes in neutral, push start button and all I hear is a click in the lower part of the bike. I remove cap to solenoid and touch the two screw heads that are on the solenoid with a screwdriver and push start button and I get a spark and still nothing. Maybe a loose wire? but then I wouldn't get sparks. Any ideas?

 

Check your connections...battery, grounds. Just because you get sparks, does not mean connections are good.

Could also be dirty fuse or relay contacts, possibly the starter relay is bad.

 

I appreciate the information given and will work on checking battery, grounds, fuses and relay contacts. Thanks for all of your help, keeps the guess work out of the project.

 

Ideas.

Don't be sure battery is good unless you load test it or have it load tested and it "tests" good.

No load tester? Just charge it good overnight. Then try again.
