Someone locally is selling a pv-1. He says it includes a tune licence.
Is there a way to verify that it has not been married already without hooking it up.
Can you plug into a laptop .
Don't want to shell out the coin to find out it has already been matched to another bike.

Yes you can hook it to a computer and find out if it is locked to a ECM.
First you must install PV software on your computer.
Open WINPV
top row of options click Power vision then power vision info
read down the list it will say locked to VIN yes if it is no if it is not.
As the experts fuel moto said they may have purchased a unlock for it.
When it comes to electronics buying used has it's draw backs.
Think about buying new from Fuel moto
1. You will get the factory warranty doubled to two years
2. There is no better tech support anywhere
3. The tunes they offer are pretty darn good.
My first PV was purchased before anyone explained the reasons to purchase from Fuel moto.
My second came from them.
If you get one enjoy it is a great tool does a lot more than just tune.

That example says it is locked. If yours looks like that, then updating the software won't cure this. You need to purchase an unlock.

Will have to check into further with seller.
To download the pv software I would need to have the software supplied with the unit just to check if it's married or not.
He wants $500 can. Which I think is too much. I can get it new from fm for $5 US. With our crappy dollar makes it about $600 can. Worth the extra 100. For new and incl fm after service.

 

I got mine new off of Amazon and next day shipping for $460 U.S.
