Default Power Vision broken screen, replacing, new adventure

Hello guys.

Yesterday after doing some AT sessions, I got my PV in my pocket, with the bad luck that my keys hit the screen and broke the touch support, the screen is fine but the touch does not work, basically making the PV useless for datalogging and autotuning.

I was angry and upset as any would be in this situation, but told me, hey, you know some stuff about electronics, lets see what's inside.

Something funny is that Dynojet claims that no replacement screen exists, but that's actually wrong..

I've teared down the PV, its a hard thing since the PCB is covered in silicone to make it waterproof, after removing all the silicone and getting the screen out, I searched the screen model at google just to find that is a common screen used in Raspberri Pi/Arduino, actually by looking at the PCB the PV looks like a hacked together device built on a summer night at a garage lol, but that's another history, i've discovered some stuff related with what's running and what could be done with it but i'll keep that for myself considering that this information can damage Dynojet

back to the point, ordered the display from ebay, waiting for it, once it arrives i'll replace it and see if the touch works again, if it do, i've fixed my PV for 10$ instead of 400$+ of a new one.

Will keep you guys updated since probably more people are interested.

The aftermarket is a great thing, one thing is a given. Sooner or later a touch screen will wear out, this is where that great aftermarket comes in. It's amazing how many folks will just toss a worn out piece of electronics, when it is possible to repair it.

Just out of curiosity, how water "proof" do you think these things are since you've been inside one?

I just sent my PV in for a warranty claim because the touch was freezing up. They replaced it for me. I was wondering if it was because it got wet from the rain.

I wouldn't run them on the rain, that's for sure.

Hopefully you had to do more than just wipe it with voltage.

Screen arrived today.

Sadly, it didn't work, the screens lights up but nothing is displayed.

Lost game I guess.
