Default Cam Positioning Sensor Bypass

I searched for the answer to my question, however have not found any definite answers...Here we go......
I have a 1999 Electra Glide Standard Carb.
I had a hydraulic cam upgrade. Since that I am getting a cam sensor code. From what the mechanic told me and what I have read on the net, The 1999 and 2000 TC used both Crank and Cam sensors. The TC did not need the Cam sensor, so in 2001 it was deleted. The difference being the coil and ECM. I have purchased a 2002 coil, and 2002 ECM.

So question is if I switch these out to the 2002 style and unplug the CPS will I be high speed low drag? Or FUBAR?

HSLD! I think you will be good to go. I have a 1999 FLHRCI. I removed the MM EFI and went with a carb model wiring harness from a 2000 and a dynatec TC88 ignition module. I cut the cam position sensor wiring flush with the cam cover. The ignition module I used only requires the crank position sensor to run and I think that the factory ECM from 2002 should be the same. Go for it!

Should work.. Assuming you bought a 2002 ICM (for carb) not ECM.. Original coil should have worked which leaves me to believe that you might have bought the Delphi ECM for fuel injection and it's coil.. If you did, you're screwed.

You would have been better off buying a Daytona Twin Tech Ignition..

I haven't switched it yet. I purchased a 2002 ICM for a carb bike and a 2002 coil for carb. So, I guess i am good to change out ICM and remove CAM sensor....

Thanks Guys

What are the advantages to the Daytona Twin Ignition?

It's adjustable... If you ever want change the motor.. IE add a cam, bore it to 95.. It's a good thing.

For that year you were supposed to use the old chain with the old gear that had the timing ridge.
