Default Mod to 2016 air cleaner

Is there anything I can do to a newer air cleaner to flow a little more. I kinda like the new covers. Was thinking change the filter to a KN but cant find one. Mod the air box itself?

The newer air boxes, depending on exactly which bike you're referring to, will flow more air than the motor can use. So you'd just be wasting your time trying to mod it.

I'm oldenuf to have modified a stock Evo air filter housing to improve flow, way back, but as O above indicates, current filters have moved on a lot from those days. Why do you ask and what mischief are you up to?!

HD-1614 is the KN PN for a filter for the touring.

Zippers manufactures a Stage 1 filter that comes with a cleanable unit and utilizes the stock cover. This is the same one other dot com store relabeled as their own.

Like is mentioned. The stock AC is a good unit and isn't a choke factor for up to a mild stage 2. How the stock one is designed. It helps with not pulling hot air off the engine. The aftermarket ones slot the backing plate that does allow hot air to be pulled off the engine. Something to keep in mind.

If your bike is stock, leave the a/c stock. Otherwise a hi flo a/c may be worth considering. Depends on what you have and want.

One sheet is a cammed pre-rushmore 103" comparing a KN filter and Crusher Street Sleeper III a/c. Same day, same bike... The tuner also removed the filter, running open air, and the sheet was exactly the same as with Crusher filter installed.

The FM chart compares stock rushmore filter to their hi flo a/c.

+1. I ran the Screamin Eagle AC for a while and there is no difference that I can see. I did tune it with each different filter on too. The only difference with the SE AC is that the intake is way louder when you get on it. That's why I changed it back...plus it's easier and cleaner to run an external breather on the stock set up.

HD-1499 should be the "drop-in" K&N replacement filter

Can be bought for cheap on ebay all day long

Plus on a 2006 you can also open up the air intake by trimming the back plate ( black bit !)
