Good question! Where have you seen that expression used and was it in connection with Harleys?

Sounds like OP is talking about a Hypercharger.

I did wonder! In which case look elsewhere for a more conventional air filter.

Unfortunately there isn't anything high performance as applied to HD intakes.
For HDI models they shut off the intake opening when the engine is off so all those fumes stay inside the engine.
Nothing sexy like dynamically altering the intake runner lengths for each cylinder individually...bummer

If its Active Intake then its most likely the Hypercharger that uses engine vacum to operate a flap that lets air into the engine...its totally bogus and totally marketing hype.

There is however an Active Exhaust where there is a valve in the exhaust header that opens and closes to manage the backpressure in the system to improve performance and reduce emissions.

Thanks guys I always know I can get good answers here. I know what active exhaust is and how it works but saw a confusing post on another site vaguly talking about active intakes.
