sportster ignition module question
hey all,
picked up a new motor for my father's 95 sportster. found one out of a 2000.
all the wiring seems to line up with the exception of the ignition module.
The old engine was a three wire triangle plug, red green black.
The new is a five wire rectangle plug, red green black purple white.
I don't know too much about it, but is the newer engine equipped with wiring for a bank sensor? So could i just clip them, and use the old three wire system?
thanks

If it was my guess, your dads sportster was running single fire ignition coil and your new engine is running a dual fire ignition coil. Wiring is pretty identical and 5 wire is just a little different. There is a kid on youtube who does a great explanation of what is what and how to wire the 5 wire harness to a single fire ignition coil.
