I have a xl1200x 2012.
It have been performed a stage 1 tune with a screamin eagle tuner box.
this box is lost at the dealer i bought my bike.
so i have bought a Vance&hines fp3 tuner box.
To make the fp3 work properly do i have to restore the ECU Back to factory?
how can i restore the ecu to factory settings without the SE tuning box?

 

AFAIK, there is no need to return the ECM cal to stock factory since the fp3 will simply overwrite the existing cal. ANY DEALER CAN ALSO OVERWRITE THE FP3 cal with Digital Tech. This was an big issue a while ago when dealers arbitrarily reprogrammed bikes that cam in the shop for service with a "torque managed" calibration inn an attempt to stop the flywheel sissoring.
This is why TTS locks the ECM...no arbitrary HD reprogramming of the ECM unless the ECM is unlocked by the owner.

Let me elaborate on FLTRI17's response, when he says overwrite note that whatever map is currently on your bike will be remembered not only in the FP3 device itself but also uploaded to Vance and Hines servers in case your physical FP3 fails on you. Bottom line your good to go my friend and if you ever want to go back to the other map you just select it and flash it back...VERY simple and easy to use. Good luck.
