Put new battery in. Looks like no fire. Don't smell any gas on plugs. Sprayed starter fluid in, and still doesn't even try to start. Nothing. Still just cranks. Checked all fuses. They look good. Not a mechanic but trying to save a trip to the dealer. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Your battery may not have a full enough charge on it after setting on a shelf somewhere for who knows how long before you bought it. If the ECM on the bike doesn't receive the proper voltage signal from the battery, it doesn't know when to tell the plugs to fire. I'd start with a full day on a tender or a few good hours on a charger on low. Start there as that's the cheapest route to go down first.

Oldenuf2nobtr is right, under 12.7 volts will struggle to start a bike or car with fuel injection. Be careful jumping a fuel injected bike too. It will screw with the computer if there is a voltage spike. Did you put a old plug in the plug boot(leave the one in the cylinder you pull the wire off of) and hold it against the engine to test for spark. Its either spark, gas, or air...

The first thing to do is listen for the fuel pump to run when you cycle the ignition / handlebar switch. If none it's some electrical problem.. What is more important than 12.7 volts at the battery is what the battery is doing when cranking. Make sure it stays above about 9.5 volts. If fuel didn't help, you only got spark and compression left to check. Motor needs to see compression on rear cylinder to spark and fuel. Got compression, check the wires to the crank sensor and make sure nothing has chewed through them.

Thanks for the help guys. The part turned out to be crankshaft position sensor. Less then $ 100 and extremely easy to fix once we learned that was the problem. Thank god for google we got the diagnostic codes.
