Tuning Question
How do these plugs look? I am trying out a new map on my PCIII. Does the white center mean I am still lean somewhere? These plugs have approx 150-200 miles on them. And I have been through the entire RPM band with them.

RE: Tuning Question
My bike is an 06 EG Classic. S/E AC, S/E slip-ons and stage 1 ECM. I am trying to keep decent mileage, with a "little" better performance. Little meaning I don't expect it to be the fastest on the block, just better than stock with out being too lean/rich. BTW, I really don't trust tuners, because who knows what they really do to your bike for the money. They could just load a "slightly modified" canned map in there and charge you an arm and a leg! Paranoia is setting in, the voices in my head......

RE: Tuning Question
They look a little lean to me, but the problem you have when reading plugs is, you have to run it in a consistant rpm range and read them for that range. If you had these plugs in and used all the differentrpm ranges you don't know what rangecould belean. Ride the bike at traffic speeds keeping the rpms at about 2000 to 2500 without sudden accelerations and you can read that range, or take the bike out on the interstate and run in the range you ride at and hold it there for about a mile or 2, shut down and pull over and pull the plugs. People also say it's harder to read plugs with todays gas because of the ethinol they put in but I haven't found that to be a problem. I hope this helps.

Check out this link. Looks a little lean to me. But you need to run the bike, hit the kill switch (with no idleing) then wait till it cools off before you pull the plugs to get a true look at the plugs. Don't pull or insert plugs when it's hot as the metals expand & contract at different rates.
sorry didn't see the other post with the link.......oh well

RE: Tuning Question
I thought you might find this interesting, I went out to bike night tonight and when I got home I pulled a plug and took some pics. If you look at the ground electrode you will see 3 different colors, 1- darkbrown with tan flecks on the tip, 2- a silver ring just past the bend and 3- a little black at the weld. you should also see tan on the porcelin and on the electrode. I tuned my bike for how I ride it, I also used an Air fuel ratio gauge to tune it. I don't run at wide open and have never had the bike over 70 MPH. Here's the kicker, these plugs have just over 5000 miles on them. Some will say it's a littlelean but it's how I want it, the bike runs great and gets 45 to 48 mpg around town with the oil temp not going over 210 on a humid 95* day.

RE: Tuning Question
Dave R.
I am using a "self Modified" canned map. For my config, dynojet recommends 807-005, but I did not like how the bike responded to that map. So I have been experimenting with 807-060 but I richened it up a little. the 807-005 just says it's for screamin eagle slip-ons, but does not give a part #, it seemed to pop alot on decel too. The 807-060 map I am using seems to run alot better and I still get around 42-45 MPG.
