module/coil test procedure?
Hello-
I have a 1976 flh with Crane HI-4 Single fire ignition and DynaS coil. The bike just quits on me then I can start it up after justa minute , ride for a minute same thing. It acts just like I hit the kill switch. I've tested the switch and inspected for insulation worn through. No problems. I want to test the ignition system, but all I have is the procedure for points ignition. If anyone has the test procedure, HELP!
Chrome side up!

RE: module/coil test procedure?
intrigued as to why you would not be running the matching Crane coil...
not saying it's wrong....but i am not sure it is right either!
has the bike run successfully with this combo????
here is how to test the single-fire module: base on my own hard-won experience!

RE: module/coil test procedure?
Thanks for the help. FYI as long as the system is made for a 3 ohm single fire coil it doesn't matter what brand you use. It has worked fine. The Crane coil took a crap about three years ago, 6 months after the ignition was installed. The Dyna Tech was all that the shop had in stock. I will carry around a test light with me and when it does it again I will hook it up, I will also test the coil resistance to see if it gets added resistance when it's hot. I'll keep you in the loop.
