Ok, I brought the new Race Tuner (32109-08) and cables but can't get the computer to communicate with the ECM. I can't even find the instuctions. I hook all the cables up and turn on the bike and the computer. I do have the correct icon on the lower left with the green line but the screen says the ECM is not compatible? I have a 2008 Road King Classic, the ECM part number is a 34245-08A and the cables are a part number 32184-08. I am connecting through the left side cover in the square four pin connector.. I am using a Dell Laptop loaded with XP and no other programs are open. The main problem is that after everything is hooked up and I push the red button on the VCI interface nothing happens. No lights , nothing. Then the screen states the ECM is not compatible. Could it mean the download? According to latest product guide at the dealership I have the correct part numbers. Any assistance would be appreciated.

 

I have an older race tuner, so I don't know if I'm on the same page as you. Make sure the bike is on and the run stop switch is on, then try again.

You need to go to the help file in the menu bar and read how to navagate the software. Pushing the red button is used for a road test recording but you have to activate the tuner to start the recording with the tuner software and then download info with the software, it's easy reading and you should be a pro in 30 minutes or so.

Yea but...I can't get anything going except I do get the icon in the lower left corner of the screen to go from red to green. Everytime I try to download a file is says it is not compatible with my ECM. I have a 2008 RK (96") and just put HD SE pipes and will put the SE Hi-flow air cleaner on. Iselected the first 200 file which is fora 1580CC motor and SE pipes. It would not let me download. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

 

What version do you have, have you updated the Tuner to the latest 1.003.0002v, do you know how to update it?

You might try to unstall the program and install it again....

 

I tried to update the software but when I plugged the computer into the internet the icon that you are supposed to click on to have it update automatically was "grayed out" ?? Is there some secret I have not been told about?

 

I believe I read somewhere here that some of the early 08 ecms don't work with the new tuner. You might want to ask your dealer to check that for you.

 

I went to the dealer. Nobody knows much about it. They have never even seen one yet nevermind worked with it before.

 

are you using the new super tuner and trying to use tuning files from a sert? they have differant file formats i believe

 

What version do you have now....you can read the version number where you go to update it.....it's on the first line.
