se pro race tuner 2008 flhtci
Hey guys, don't laugh but, I have never used a pro Race tuner before. I odered one for a 2008 FLHTCI and it only came with the cartrage. No CD or maps. I have CD'S for the old sert but, nothing for this one. I have the cables also but, I have no instruction. Like what is the red button for? I am just looking for a stage 1 map, nothing special. Arlen Ness high flow a/c kit and D&D Fatcat 2:1. Can anyone help me out hear? Thanks.

I assume you mean the SEST since you ask about the red button. The red button turns on the stand alone logging once it is set up by the software that you don't have. The missing CD is a big issue. The thing with the red button is the VCI. When you connect it to the bike it will be married to the bike. So if you don't have the CD's then you have to wonder where they went and whether the VCI has already been married to a bike making it worthless for you.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I bought ths VCI new from a dealer. I was only given the VCI. I was told there is a tutorial cd availible but, they did not have one in stock. As with the SERT I have a CD amd maps, Why do you think I would not get a CD with the SEST? I was told they do not make the old SERT any more, is this true? The box was sealed and I opened it but, never connected it to a bike. Thanks again.

If all that was in that box is a VCI then they likely were not suppose to sell that to you. The original VCI's are defective. They do not turn off when full and instead corrupt the data that was recorded so you can't download it. They don't report the O2 sensor/integrator values as they should. They record twice as long at half the rate they are suppose to.
There is a procedure in the software for updating the firmware on the VCI, but there is no update for the firmware indicating the problem cannot be fixed by updating firmware and, instead, requiring replacement of the devices. So if all that's in the 32109-08A box is the VCI then that's the replacements. Those are likely intended to be exchanged with customers that come in and complain rather than sold.
It is doubtful HD trusts their dealers enough for them to be able to make any more selling the replacements. They likely charge them the full price for the replacements and give them credit when they return defective units. Considering some of the things you see with dealers I wouldn't trust them if I were HD. So most likely they didn't rip you off and instead just didn't know what they were doing.
What to do? That's hard to say. If they are suppose to be selling you 32109-08 and exchanging defectives for 32109-08A then taking 32109-08A in to exchange for 32109-08 may mean you get a defective VCI that you need to take back in and exchange for a 32109-08A that you started with. You're mainly paying for the VCI, you have one and the little CD and sleeve is worth about $1. So you can go through that hassle or just download the software.
