I have an 08 electra glide classic and need to change the speedometer and replace it with another stock one. Am not sure how to take the speedo out of the faring. Thanks for any advice.

 

Get a manual and follow the instructions......

Or you can remove the outer fairing, remove the 2 screws holding the bracket to the back of the speedo, remove the odo reset button cover, GENTLY unplug the socket from the back of the speedo.... Reverse operation with new speedo...

Just incase that the bike doesn't start, then you will need to do a password learn procedure....

 

what is a "password learn procedure"?

 

"Password Learn" is for when you change a component in the j1850 Serial Data stream...

Those components are the ECM, TS/SM, Speedo and Tach....

So all components can "Speak" on the same digital language...

 

Hi! I have an '05 Ultra Classic. I have changed all 6 gauges and installed the Dakota Digital Gauge Set. I did NOT have to do any "password learn procedure" and everything runs just fine.
