Positive Battery Cable Gets Hot!

You should never attempt to wire anything with a drawing or even a doodling on an old piece of cardboard.
If you doing a one for one wire swap out, did you completely take all the wiring off first or do it one at a time?
You first start with what you have and draw it out, then draw out any changes to see if they look like they will work on paper! Then start your project.
I would look to see if you don't have your positive onto ground some how. Just when does it get hot? Is it all the time, or just when trying to spin over the engine?
When you try to start the engine with the head light on, what does it do?
Stays bright?
Goes dim?
Goes out?
