2005 Road King - Throwing Code P0122
Fault Code: P0122/ Description-Possible Cause: Throttle Position
Sensor Open/Low/ Source: ECM
The bike is totally stock, 3000 miles. This code has came up twice. I have noticed occasionally the motor idles high when I stop and quickly restart.
I would like to get as much info as I can before I call the dealer, as the last time I had it in (1K Service) they took 8 days even with a scheduled appointment.
Is it likely the sensor needs to simply be swapped, and how easy is this to do?

Yes, that is tps on an 03 also. TPS should read about .45 volts at idle(don't turn throttle at all ignition on but not started and go up to 4.8 volts full throttle again with engine not started. Best way to check because unless you want to cut into wiring is to pull the TPS off of the throttle body, it is a real PITa to get to the wiring otherwise, plus it lets you move the TPS without having to run the throttle, you can also check ground(black wire) and signal 5 volts(red wire) output to computer is the gray wire. I had bad connections to my TPS both the gray and my ground in the connector. I hope this helps a little. If you use a daytona twin scan it could show up as a MAP sensor low.
best of luck and hope this helps....

Check for a broken wire at the connector. Look for a soft or flimsy spot in the wire right at the connector. Many times the sensor is good, and the wiring tests out good but the wire is actually broke. You can check this quickly at home prior to bringing it in.
