hi. the turn signals on my 88 sportster won't blink. all 4 light up. is there a flasher or something?

 

I'm not sure on an 88, but my 94 has a turn signal module. If you have self-cancelling turn signals you likely do too. If not then you might connect to a flasher. I would start by making sure all lights are working correctly, i.e. running, directional and brake light. Check for shorts as well. A service manual will tell you if you have a module or flashers and how to test whatever you have. If you don't have one you might ask your local dealership if they have one you can look at. Flashers, I think, are cheap, but I wouldn't expect the module to be so you would want to be pretty sure it's bad before replacing it.

 

Check behind the head light and you should find a round two or three pin silver or black flasher unit, replace this unit and you are fine. You can sometimes substitute the flashers for older cars, same flasher.
