Default '06 Dyna FXDCI starting problem - everything went dead

Here is my situation:

Battery was dead so I re-charged it.

Turned the key to start and all lights came on as usual.

Pressed the button to crank it and after 3 or 4 cranks, all power was gone. Lights and everything went off.

Checked the battery and still had a full charge, but nothing works.

Any ideas on the problem and/or where I should look first?

I have a suggestion. Instead of waiting for an answer from a 6 year old post, you should start a new one. Put in as much info as you can and I'm sure you can get some help here.

probably the same thing as the original poster.

I love how people say 'I checked the battery and it is good' - here's the real deal folk, the only criteria you can declare a battery to be good is in a load test. cheking the voltage with a meter means NADA.

cheers!

If he was bored he would probably be replying to 6 year old threads for something to do, lol.

First thing I would do would be to make sure all my battery connections, including the ones at the starter and frame ground were good, then get the battery load tested at an AutoZone or somewhere similar. If you're using a voltmeter it won't tell you how your battery performs under load. Need to measure cranking amps.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Jim
