simple wiring plan for a evo with single fire coil
I put a new Evo crate motor in a 76 shovel frame, a Dyna 2000i ignition with a Primo starter. Do I need a relay? can I go directly from key switch to starter, as there is no selonoid ? My wiring harness came with very little instructions and a lot of stuff I won't use, as this is a chopper. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

No solenoid?
What model starter, I'll have a look and we can go from there.
I work with electricity, it's not scary at all.
You cannot "key switch to starter"
We may be able to work in a solenoid plunger end cover which is neat and tidy.
Basically it removes the starter button, relay and wiring. You'll only have to wire directly to you starter from the battery (with a big wire)
Inexpensive and reliable.

check this thread, someone has posted a nice wiring diagram, which shows a starter circuit- good for reference.

Hey Mike,
Thank you for your reply, my Rivera Primo monster tourque starter instructions say: " Using a square style starter relay ( I have this) the solenoid wire will go to the #30 post on relay." I guess the solenoid is in the starter motor as the wire is coming out of the motor. A large connection for the battery cable also. Thank you for the link to the wiring diagram also. John

If you want to simplify further, "check the solenoid cover starter switches" middle of the page, here:

no starter button, relay etc.
Nice and tidy for a custom.
With this it means that anyone could operate your starter---so you have to make your ignition system theft resistant.
