When I say software isn't communicating with the bike I mean except for the ding that the computer makes that it detects a device, the software does not recognize anything is plugged in or trying to communicate with the software.
I did learn to take out my light fuse before doing it, because it killed my battery...

does the red light on the VCI blink when you turn on the ignition? never mind you said the computer makes a sound so the VCI is recognized by computer.
If you can open a map, the VCI is recognized, then you have computer glitch I cannot explain.

I expect you have used this before. you have not yet said whether you were able to open a saved "on the computer map", or the original from the computer map. The VCI does not need to be hooked up to do that.

Thanks, 1Canuck, for the link to this thread! I just wish I'd found it earlier and saved us both some time and effort!! I don't know how I missed it. Its answered so many of my questions, plus plenty of other tips and tricks that I didn't even know I wanted to know!!
I've now returned spark timing to original, raised clb across the board and adjusted afr table so I'm not running closed loop down low. Which is where I was having the problems, richened it up a fair bit and now it has much better manners at slower speeds.
I still don't think the bike has reached its full potential yet, but it is so much better!! And now I have a much better idea of what I have to look at!!
Thanks Very Much, Matt.
