I picked up an auto tune unit for my 15 CVO Limited and have the VEs tuned in. I'm ready to start playing with timing. When I did this before without the AT, I increased timing until I got pinging and then retarded it a bit. This was lots of log analyzing and tuning runs.
What's the best way to adjust timing using the AT unit? I know that I need to set Max VE learn to 0 and Max Spark Learn to 10 but what from there. It is my understanding that the PV w/AT will not advance timing???

I would work it the same way. Increase timing (maybe 5 deg.) and autotune. Monitor the changes and continue to autotune until it stops retarding the timing. Once that's stable you may want to add one or two deg. to max timing and autotune again.

Knock retard is all together different on 14-15 FLH models. The F&R Spark Knock channel on the ECM's databus does not represent individual knock retard events as with earlier models, it represents actual learned adaptive knock retard value. If you are using Auto Tune to develop your spark tables you will use any learned spark timing as a guideline only, (I recommend putting both maps in WinPv for comparison) otherwise you will end up with timing that is way too retarded
You are correct. It will not advance timing, It can only retard it.

I received a PM from a user asking me about how to edit the pvv files so you can use them in Log Tuner. To assist me and the other's here, I decided to make a tool to remove the required text. Feel free to download it and it'll do all the work for you.
It is an EXE file and that may concern some of you. No worries, I didn't put anything in it like virus or spyware. To help ease any concerns, I added an about page with my contact info. It's written in VB and I'm happy to provide the source code. If there is interest in this, I'll add a couple features:
1. Ability to back up the file first
2. Work multiple files at once
3. Suggestions from you all
The file is on my Google drive. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bym...ew?usp=sharing

Why is that? Just because DJ stopped supporting it? It's still VERY useful if you can get your hands on it and understand how to use it.

Unsupported yes, Obsolete no. Log Tuner is much better at adjusting timing from data logs by recording real time values, And knock events without AutoTunes adjustments. Like changing AFR to 14.6 across the board, Retarding 4 deg of timing across the board, Disabling AE,DE,PE,EITMS,AC,etc... You get better data and better timing adjustments based off the final tune your actually running after you''ve got your VE's dialed in by Auto Tuning. Of course it only pulls timing and requires some effort and learning how to utilize it to its potential. The workaround is easy enough to do to still make it worthwhile. When or if DJ enhances the PV timing function to do that, Then it may be obsolete.
