Default Cobra fuel injection modules

Hi From Australia,
Bought a used 2009 FLHT Electra Glide Standard with a Cobra fuel injection module installed by previous owner. The module installed is specified for Harley Softail 2007, model No 692-1607CL. The correct module for the 2009 Touring bikes (in Australia) is model No 692-1612CL . I have conflicting advice from the distributors in Australia and Cobra USA as to the ability of the 692-1607CL model to work effectivly on my 2009 tourer. The Australian distributor of Cobra says the modules are identical , only the wiring is longer for the 692-1612CL (2009 Touring model), just adjust the pot settings on my module to the default settings of the 2009 Touring module and your good to go. Cobra USA says their module's are bike specific, and I should replace with the 2009 specified module. The bike is running OK, no popping , no back firing, fuel milage is ok, heat is reasonable. Only difference is , (in intructions) with ignition on only, all 3 led's should be 'on', . On start up , after 15 seconds the Green light should be the only led 'on'. My bike, with ignition on , 'no' lights are on. On start up , the Green light is 'on'. I know some will say , if the bike is going as I describe , don't touch anything, but as the Cobra modules are quite new in Australia , I'd like some veiws from US Harley riders with the points I've raised. Thanks Mark

Surely there must be someone that has some knowledge on Cobra fuel modules. Is there a workshop that sells and installs them that is out there???

I have the Cobra FI2000R PowerPro Auto Tune module on my 01 Ultra. Best money i've spent. Had it installed on my 88" motor with S&S 510G cams and it got 42 mpg with no popping or heat problems. Just did a 97" Big Bore with Woods 5G cams and heads street ported and now getting 43 to as much as 51 mpg (wind to our backs) and have not had the first stumble. Had the 3 pot system before and like you, was told they are brand specific, That's why i went to the Auto Tune, just fire it up and ride.

With regard Plug and Play fuel management systems, what I have read here and the US about the Cobra Fuel module's, has been mostly positive. No doubt all plug and play systems can have failure and breakdown issuses, but on the whole, if you have minor upgrades ie, Stage 1, and your not at the high end of the rpm range very often, the plug and play systems seem the way to go , considering some of the down sides some people may think, with regard getting that elusive perfect tune. I would still like some feedback regarding the Cobra module, if it can be used on a bike that it is not specified for, (in my case , 2007 - to a 2009), or if anyone has done this, and their comments. Thanks
