Electrical Problem when Starting
Ok, First off, I ain't an electrical guy. Mechanical... not so much either. I'm on a '05 Heritage with 20K miles on it. No electrical Modifications have been made.
Problem: I turn the ignition switch to on, all electrical systems come on as normal. Flip run/off switch to run, fuel pump kicks on as normal and everything seems perfectly fine. Reach up and hit starter switch, hear a click... everything dies, no lights, no nothing... as if there is no battery in the bike at all. Pull off seat and check battery connections and they are tight with no corrosion or build up. Check main fuse, not blown. With the seat off and after I checked the battery I tried again following all the steps as above. Bike fires up and runs fine. What Gives? I'd assume a short somewhere, but a short should blow a fuse right? This is an intermittent problem and does not happen every time I try to crank her up. It will happen when the bike is cold or after it's been run and warmed up. Once it's started, the bike has never died or run abnormally.
Any advice as to what this could be or what I should look at next?
