CAN bus to SERT / TTS pinout 11 CVO Softail Conv
I am looking for a pinout for the 6 pin Deutch connector to 9 pin D-sub used by the SERT/TTS. I have all the parts laying around to make the cable and would rather just throw one together than wait for an order to show up. If anyone has a 6 pin SERT cable or TTS cable and knows how to "pin it out", it would save me a lot of waiting. I made one for the 4 pin models today but am having a hard time finding the pinout for the 6. Not sure if they are using the same TX /RX pins as the 4 pin as they are different protocol. Also because the 4 pin follows non standard serial pinouts. Otherwise I'd just translate the 4 pin cable to the 6 via shop manual schematics. Thanks for the help! BTW I tried a few LHS's and most had a hard time understanding what a "pinout" was.

Obviously they are different protocol. I stated the same thing in the original post. Thats why I'm not just tying the CAN to the tx/rx lines on the 4 pin DC and hoping it works. It is possible to run multiple protocol on the same wires though. I'm thinking they are discrete in this instance if I were a betting man. However I'm not. Thats why I'm looking for the real answer prior to proceeding. I did locate 50% of the pinout. The 6 pin DC is as such:
Pin1 CAN hi
Pin2 Gnd
Pin3 CAN lo
Pin4 Brake
Pin5 Accy
Pin6 Fuse
I still need the 9 pin D-sub end to know how they match up. This is the tough one. The 6 pin can be found in the shop manual. The 9 pin is coming off the TTS/SERT and doesn't seem to be documented. Is there anyone out there that has one of the TTS or SERT cables that can map the pins out? To do it you would use and ohm meter / continuity tester and document which pins are connected to each other on each end. This is what it would look like to convey the findings:
Example:
DC to DB9: pin 1 to pin 5
DC to DB9: pin 2 to pin 1
DC to DB9: pin 3 to pin 7
DC to DB9: pin 4 to pin 9

Might be way easier to spend $40 at at dealer. SEPST and TTS use the same protocols as far as I know. My dealer stocks the 4 pins for sure, so I can sell those to customers for J1850 bikes. I am going to assume, when a few more canbus bikes roll thru, that I will be selling the MOCO cables

From a technical standpoint there is no relevance in the different protocols the two devices may or may not be using. The genuine cables direct from HD do one thing and one thing only. They electrically join one pin/contact to another or in simpler terms "a length of wire". Provided you use the cable with the correct pinout and connector on the bike end. You should be in business!. I too require the pinout simply because I enjoy making my own gear. So far all I have is a picture. It is a little helpful though. It is an OEM for SEPST and shows that there are still only 4 of the 6 pins used.
