Default Need Info Please

I have an 09 883 xl with only about 8K on it. This morning I readjusted the headlight and wiped it down a little. Then I got on to go get a newspaper, turned key on and nothing happened the EFI did not activate. I turned the key all the way off three times and tried after each one still nothing. I wheeled back up to the parking place and tried it once more and it started just like every time before today.

Any idea what may have caused it?

Give us some more info! Does anything actually work, like the lights, flashers, horn?

Everything else seemed to be work. There was no light displayed for power getting to the EFI on gauge.

There is a way of getting error codes, which should help you diagnose the problem. If you don't have an owners manual you can download one from Harley's website, go to the 'Owners' tab. There is also a Sticky at the top of this section of HDF. However start by checking your fuses!

Thanks all. The kill switch was set to on or start and the bike was in neutral and there was not a popped fuzz

My Sporty had been parked for a couple of weeks due to medical issues. When I got on it the other day it did it again. The bike was in neutral, kill switch got the fuel pump working, the idiot lights were working as normal and the headlights/driving lights came on. When i hit the starter button - nothing. I rocked it back and forth a couple of times still nothing. I put a battery tender on over night and it came up green the next day but it still would not start. I ended up push starting it and dropping it off with my wrench.

My only thought is either a loose wire on the starter or dead starter switch.

Any other things it could be?

A knackered battery! All the things you mention that work use relatively little power, compared with the starter. Other possibilities are poor battery or starter circuit connections or grounds. It'll be interesting to see what your indy finds.
