Default Coil Question

Hey guys... I have a stock 03 Superglide - TC88. Can you tell me if the coil on it is a single fire or a dual fire?

How about on a 2001 Sportster?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All Twin Cams come with single fire ignition. I believe all Sportsters 2003 up have Single Fire, and all with EFI do. Easy enough to tell though, see if the coil has two or three wires going to it. Single fire has three supply wires, Dual Fire has two wires going to it.

Yeah - it's looking like they're opposite.

TC 88 1999 -2006 Carb Single Fire

Sportster XL 1988 -2003 Carb Dual Fire

Here's what I'm trying to do... I got an unbeatable deal on the instrument cluster from an 01 Sportster. I want to hook up the tach on my 03 Superglide. The wiring, and brackets are all the same.

I've been seeing some search results for adapters to convert it... are these any good?

Thanks for your help - I appreciate it!

The adapters work just fine.

Thanks Craig... Is one better than another? Any special considerations I should look for?

Does a dual fire tach hook up exactly the same as a single fire?

3 wires - Orange to power, Black to ground and Pink to signal? or are they different?
