88 sportster elec. problems ???
Hi , I have a 88 sportster 1200 , v&h drag pipes , and a killer carb . when running the bike it seems to do real good ,, until I use the turn signals , blow the horn , run aux driving lights , when I do those things it seems like its draining the juice out of the Ignition coil , theres a difference in the way the engine runs , Whats the chances of the battery being not so good and drawing all of the juice from the charging system , the charging system runs at aprox. 14 volts at aprox 1200 rpm's with just the head light on ,, any suggestions ? ,, thanks for reading !!! , by the way , I do have a manual , I just wanted to hear from rider/mechanics !!!

You can check your charging system for any problems by using the Stickies in the Tech Electrical section. However it seems unlikely to me that what you describe is caused by the charging system, as the greatest drain by far is starting the bike - assuming you use an electric starter! More likely IMHO is an electrical fault associated with those things you describe, such as a poor or corroded ground, damaged wire, corroded connectors. Slowly but carefully check over the wiring for each item in turn (horn, then signals, etc) to see what you can find. Disconnect every connector and ground you find, clean and reconnect, coating with dialectic grease to protect.
