Pciii 805-510
Good afternoon all,
I currently ride a 2008 Road King and I was given a power commander iii by a family member who traded in his 2005 ultra classic. Power commander now shows a different part number for the 2008 and they would not tell me whether or not the one i have would work on my bike. not couldnt, but wouldnt. they said there may have been changes to the touring models from 2005 to 2008 that meant the pciii i had should not be used. but as i search around there seems to be some interchangeability here. anyone have solid knowledge of whether or not its safe to use this pciii i have on my 2008?

Not taking sides here but as a counterpoint...
I was very surprised to hear DynoJet "wouldn't" try to help you. I was astounded how much help they gave me when a 7 year old PCIII quit taking new maps. Ended up with a PCV at less than half price when they failed to fix it in their shop...gratis...they offered to, and did, preload the map, enabled rev extend etc before shipping. Quick, seamless. FuelMoto has a great reputation, this does not take away at all from that fact. Incidentally, I was not the original purchaser of the PCIII.
Back to the OP ... I looked at application briefly and there does seem to be some conflict between softail, dyna and touring about that time. Another try at Powercommander DynoJet) tech or give a try FuelMoto. Be sure you look at connection configuration before you call and have serial number ( on bottom) handy.

i didnt say they "wouldnt" try to help me. they wouldnt tell me if it would work. presumably because they didnt want to be responsible if it didnt.
i added fuel moto on twitter and got a solid answer. it will not work because in 2008 is when they added the TBW which im assuming is throttle by wire.. anyway thanks all. life has changed so i will not be neglecting the bike and you will see more of me.
