I have a 2005 softail standard that has been running great until friday when it began misfiring and stalling out. It has 26,000 miles on it. I thought I got some bad gas at first so I ran some bg44k through system at friend suggestion. I filled up but still not running well. I changed spark plugs. Still no luck. I read that ecm connector may have gotten water in it so I am currently drying it out. Any other suggestions, alternator, fuel pump, etc?

 

I thought the 2005 was carb? You sure it is FI?

 

My 07 softail quit about the same time. I've been going all over it since no error codes show up. It fires up on one or sometimes both jugs and quits in 1-4 seconds. Either the ECU is shot or it's not keeping fuel pressure.
I finally gave up and put it in the shop today.

 

It's a fuel regulator problem. I should have bought a guage to test it myself. We Harley owners have to realize the plastic used to build these hoses and regulator housings are junk. Most performance issues that don't throw a code are likely plastic failures in the tank.
