Default Petcock Installation!

When I install the petcock do I need to put anything on the threads??

I don't think it's nessessary it it's an NPT but I did on mine in order to get it tight enough and end up in the correct position.

I agree, never hurts to use a judicious amount of thread sealer....and watch out for those LH fine threads, very easy to cross thread....

I just installed a new one a few months ago and used a little teflon tape on the threads.

Yeah I was thinking the Teflon as well!! Might just do that!!

I would be careful with the teflon tape, if it does leak, wont gas eat right through it? When I did mine, I used&nbsp\\;"Pipe Dope" made for petroleum based connections.&nbsp\\;

I hate using the tape alhtough it has its place.&nbsp\\; I prefer using the pipe dope....[sm=pimp.gif]

I use teflon tape for ease of assembly/disassembly, not as a sealant.
