Default Want to toss the points

I want to change my 1974 XLH from points to electronic ignition. My question is what exactly will I need for the conversion and what brand of these are the best for the money. Would appreciate any help. Thx.

Lots of guys like the Crane Hi-4 single fire system. Single fire is a definite plus over the dual fire alternative.

Any of the catalog companies such as J&P Cycles. Or try the Crane web site:

I've got a Crane Hi-4 single fire on mine and love it. Set it and forget it.

When you change from points to electronic ign. I think the coil has to be changed. On my bobber 84 somebody put points in it there is no module and the coil is 4.6 ohms. My manual has a different ohm reading for a electronic ign and point system. I would like to convert back but I am confused in how to do this I want to start a thread just for this. Do you have to time the motor etc. Thanks

From what I've read I think the electronic ignition has 3.0 or 3.5 ohms.I don't really know anything else about it.The single fire Dyna S I'm looking at comes with the ignition, the coils and instructions.

Yep electronic ignition requires USUALLY different coil than points.
Electronic 2-4 Ohms and points 4-6 Ohms ALWAYS check from ignition manufactures data sheet. Dualfire and singlefire also requires different coils, actually singlefire requires 2 independent coils .
