I don't know the answer. Just curious, why you would keep the old rotors if you are changing the forks, and wheels?

I put a "newer" mag front wheel on my 1980 with no trouble at all. I do not know the year that it was. I think late 80s. And i think it was not a Sportster wheel; perhaps from an FX; not sure about that either.

It depends on what you mean by old and new.
Given that a 69 is a drum front, it is pretty hard to know what you mean by "old" rotor.

OK, so you have a 69 XLCH, a 77-83 Showa front end, and a newer [but unknown] mag wheel. So we can ignore the year of the bike and the question is: Will the newer than 83 wheel mount in the 77-83 forks, and will the old rotor mount on the wheel, and will the brake calipers also fit?

Hard to say. I would go thru the J&P Cycles catalog and look at parts, and make a chart of year ranges for wheels, rotors, and calipers, and see if they match up.

Sighhhhhhhhhh.....
Mick..please.

You could hardly ignore the frame year, as the triple tree stem has to fit the neck of the frame, and it is very different.

And when he says old rotor...... we know that 77-83 are dual disc, so what does old rotor (singular) even mean?
A rotor from a 76? Now they are completely different.
What year wheel? 77-83 is a 10 inch disc. Is the wheel for an 11?
WHO KNOWS!!!!!!!!!

I am assuming that the front end is already fitted to the bike, which is easy enough to do in any case. And for the rest, well, it is all a legitimate question, and looking thru the catalogs is a start to the answers.

The OP could also post the question on some of the other IronHead forums, such as ...

If I remember correct steering neck has different type of bearing OLD (57-76) has ball bearing and races New 77-> has roller bearing + races. There is set that you can convert old style bearings to new... 35mm Showa front end replaced Kayaba front end in 75

Ironheads has single 11,5" disk from 73-77, dual 10" disks 77-83, 84-85 single disk same as evo ?????. cast aluminium wheel for sportster came in 77 (for xlcr, others 78) and it's made for two 10" disk. 4 different types of brake caliber
