83 Ironhead clutch replacement
I bought some Barnett clutch plates for the 83 Ironhead and when I was about to replece the clutch plates I noticed that the steel driving plates that seperate the clutch plates almost looked like they had a pattern as to how they were put in (as in rotation wise). It could just be me but I didnt see anywhere in the service manual that there was a particular way the driving plates and the clutch plates had to go (just as long as they are put back together in sequence i.e. one clutch plate then one steel drive plate).
Also the new clutch plates came with new spacers but the new spacers have a lip on one side were the old spacers were flat all the way down the cylinder. Do you guys have a clue as to which way the lip would go? I would assume the lip would face the pressure plate but thats only a guess.
Help with these two questions would be great help.
Here is a pic of the two spacers, one stock and one that came with the new plates (total of six spacers)
