Sorry i am unable to help with this one. Someone should be along who can help. But may i say Congratulations! on your 1966. Many believe the 60s IronHeads are prime.
Please if possible turn off the CapsLock while you type. On internet forums it is considered to be the same as shouting while talking.

The timing is set up like any other points system.
look for the timing mark in the window, static time it with a light or meter.
You may find the following threads helpfull:

You have spark I assume? and obvious fuel flow?
are you getting kick back or popping? smoke?

It could be a number of things, or a combination of several.
What kind of carb do you have on it?
If it happens to be a Tillotson then that is going to be a big problem.
If the carb is stamped Bendix or Zenith (same carb) then that is a good thing.
If you cannot determine what brand carb then just post a pic of it here.
With regards to the ignition system:
Are you certain you have the points gap set at .020 exactly?
Before you do anything else, remove both spark plugs and install the plug wires on each.
While grounding the plugs against the head kick the engine over and observe the spark.
If you are getting spark then take one plug wire off and stick a round phillipps screwdriver down in the boot.
Hold the steel shaft of the screwdriver an eighth inch away from the cylinder head and observe the spark.
It should be BLUE in color and should ZAP! when it goes off. Do the same with the other wire.
If the spark is weak and fuzzy with no zap then you have a problem with the ignition. A good blue spark means the distributor is OK and it is time to check the carb and the ignition system.
Lastly, you do know how to time the ignition....... or not?
