Well it started for the 1st time in 3 years on the 2 rotation😄
I have a lot more get done...mostly legal stuff. Runs awesome. I'm waiting on a parts delivery to get it road worthy and test out what stopping power that old conical guns offers . I might consider my disc brake re-install.

Very exciting looking bike. Nice work.

BTW, that little filter on the crankcase breather is not considered a good idea. It may clog up quickly and prevent proper breathing. If that is a 1977 engine you should try to find a 24633-77 crankcase breather valve assembly. They are rare now but can be found on eBay perhaps a couple times a year. Note that this part number is not in the parts catalog. The 24634-77 in the catalog is just the tiny little valve only.

Default Breather

Hi Mick....that's what I was thinking that the breather would clog....so I drilled out the end of it.....on there just for looks..... :-)
So the cover you're referring to is the cover that has a valve that releases up instead of down?
What year did they come on our bikes? And why do you think they went with the new design? Other then the breather valve coming out top is all else the same?
Thanks!

Here's some pix of the crankcase breather valve, known affectionately as the FooFoo valve, because of the peculiar sound it makes when it malfunctions when it gets clogged up ...

Installed with a hose running back to the rear exhaust mount rather than the usual pipe ...

In parts ...

Showing the pipe trimmed short and the little valve itself ...

Up to 1976 has a "timed breather", a different setup from 1977-on.

Th foofoo valve is used only on 1977 and 1978. It is essential to have it installed to get correct crankcase ventilation. If you cannot find one [they are difficult to find now] rather than a filter you might find another device that would function the same. Some auto devices may be correct. I'll send a PM about that.

1979-on has an internal FooFoo that vents from the 10:00 o'clock position up into the air cleaner. I think this is what you are referring to by "releases up instead of down".
