Default 1976 ironhead

I just did some work for a guy and he gave me a basket case sporty I just tore into the wiring and I need some help here im looking for a diagram and the one I have isn't making sense I need help with finding out what wires go to the voltage regulator and form the coil to points and does it matter which side of the coil I run the wire to the points if anyone can help me out let me know thank you and god bless

For the coil, it does not matter which end is which. Check this out ...

yes! it does matter which side the coil is hooked up! from the switched or power side would go to + or pos.. the wire that goes to the points plate would go to - or neg..

Either side can be the power side; then the other side goes to the points plate. The ends are not marked for + or -.

many years ago the early round coil had the plus and neg markings but that was long ago - today the wires only matter on a harley coil when its a single fire than the plus is the center --
