I called the H-D dealers in my general area looking to obtain the part numbers for the black gas tank decal (stripes) sets for the 1976 Sportster and was told by all of them that their books don't go back to 1976. Can anyone provide me with the part numbers for these decals?

 

The parts catalog does not list the colors of the tank decals. It just lists the color of the tank that the decal is intended for - blue, red, brown, or orange. The part numbers are 61702-76, 61703-76, 61704-76, 61705-76. Also you may need 61142-76 with whichever one you choose?

 

That is strange as I know black was also one of the available colors as well. I suspect that 61142-76 is the "AMF Harley-Davidson" decal. Thank you.
