In reality, such a build aint that tough. The real expense is the S&S for around 9k new. I've thought about doing just this build, but using a soft tail. I hate to admit it, but a soft tail frame does make for a more comfortable ride on my beaten bones. Buy a 90's Evo, a decent springer front end (don't dig the moco's version, otherwise it would be too damn easy), change out the bars and misc small stuff (seat, etc) and call it a day. Hell, I would have to shoot it as well with the old monkey-vomit HD green with the black rims… crap… I see my winter developing as I write this. If $$ is the issue, just keep it stock Evo and do everything else, would be an easy build and pretty damn cheap if you find a bit of a rat Evo.
