What kind of new body is closest to the old knucklehead.
My grandfather on what I believe is a knucklehead.
Hello,
I am trying to find out what would be the closest Harley in production to the motorcycle in this picture which I believe is a knucklehead. Ever since I was a kid I loved this body style the low and wide look. I was told a road king classic lowered. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you
I'd say Softail Deluxe and add the passing lamps. Or a Heritage and remove the saddlebags. I don't see a Road King due to no dual sided exhaust or saddlebags. Road Kings don't look good without bags.

A deluxe or heritage with a police solo seat will give you the look you are after.
BTW
The bike pictured is a 1949 PANHEAD (2 year only Sergent Stripe Rear Fender) Hydra-glide, probably a FL, I say 49 and not 50 because the bottom f the front shocks look like they are BLACK which is the only year that was done. Rare.

'Black painted front lower legs for '49 only' was for standard production bikes. Many police bikes, as that bike is, had black lower legs, as well as entire front ends including handlebars, into the shovelhead years. I don't know about beyond that.

interesting. I do love history, especially on the old police bikes, they are cool.
This particular bike IS a 1949 or 50 Pan. My $ is on 49
