Default Oil leak on my 2017 Street Glide Special

I had my 1K service done at about 1,100 miles. The bike has been running great and I enjoy riding it more than any of the five other HD's I have owned. At 1,400 miles, I noticed a pretty good sized puddle of oil on the ground. With the entire bottom covered, it's pretty hard to pinpoint exactly where it's coming from.

The dealership picked up the bile last Friday and told me Harley Davidson is all over it. They said HD is supposed to be calling them today to walk them through a fix and they will let me know.

Modifications to the bike done by the dealership:

1. Screamin’ Eagle Heavy Breather Performance Air Cleaner - Milwaukee-Eight Engine Part Number 29400264

2. Screamin’ Eagle Street Cannon Performance Slip-On Mufflers Part Number 64900553

3. Tuned with Screamin' Eagle Pro Street Tuner Part Number 41000008C

Disheartening for sure, but i think there have been a few with oil pressure and or oil leaks.

May possibly be related to your dealer's 1000 mile?

Hopefully they get this taken care of correctly and quickly so you can get in a few rides before winter.

Post the solution when it is fixed

Good luck.

I remember seeing your pics in the other thread. Keep us posted as to the outcome. For all of us looking at getting 2017s threads like this give us an idea of what to look for. For anyone interested here is a link to his post in the other thread with pics of the leak

Just talked to the dealership and they were on the phone with HD for over 2 hours walking them through what to check. They were instructed to pull the check valve from the oil cooler circulation line and check for metal fragments. None were found. HD sent new clamps, o-rings and I believe hoses, next day air. The parts were installed this morning and now they're test riding the bike. Fingers crossed that I'll get the bike back today!

Hoping for the best. Maybe you'll get a nice weekend ride in.

Hopefully that will do the trick for you. From the pics you shared my guess was the leak was due to the clamp or where that line connected. Let us know what they determined to be the cause of the leak

They replaced the hose, clamps and o-rings. No leaks or other issues now. All the parts were sent back to HD to investigate. Just glad to have the bike back and ride again!

I installed a Daymaker Projector LED Headlamp last night and then went for a ride after dark. Wow, what a difference that made. I got it on Ebay for $79.

Sounds good, now put some more miles on it for pleasure and to insure the work they did solved the problem.

Default Oil leak again

Have only had 2017 Street Glide since Oct. 2016. First time oil leak was at 900 miles nov.2016. Harley says they had to find a mechanic that knows how to work on new motors?? Then they said it was all fixed now bike has only around 1200 miles and go figure oil is leaking again. Anyone else having this same problem? Coming from front cylynder leaking on to exhaust. Last time had to have orings done now leaking again

No issues here with 1200 miles on mine.

I find it interesting that HD instructed the OP's dealer to look for metal fragments in the oil cooler system. That means they're aware of a problem and it's on their radar. Unfortunately that's not something they can issue a recall for and will have to be fixed on a case by case basis.
