Default M8 oil leaks at top of tranny housing

My buddies 2017 limited is going back for the 3rd attempt at fixing an oil leak. Yeah, he is a little upset!! Is leaking on top of the tranny housing at the "dummy plug" just below the vehicle speed sensor. Don't know if it is oil or tranny fluid, but is definately leaking. They have
replaced the VSS o-ring and then the VSS and the o-ring together. Not really sure if they messed with the "dummy plug".

May be mis-machined or even cracked. He is going for a motor upgrade to the 114 if they have to pull motor/tranny for a replacement.

Glad I've decided to sit this one out. At least for the first two MY cycles. With any luck, by '19 MoCo will have it right.

My 17 RGS is leaking on top of the tranny cover also. Been to the dealer and they say its a hose clam on the return oil line which I say no I think its comming from the motor because when I run a qtip between the fins I find oil about the fourth fin down? Thimkimg about going to a different dealer that I have more confidence in.

Nope. I'd say call the F'n factory. Porous castings aren't new, and they've been identified here.

Jeez, I wouldn't spend more than an hour with a stupid dealer. Get the bike fixed.

Here's some good reading for you hikervt:

Me too. Weather will only be about 70 or so though. Still nice enough to enjoy this great bike.

Yep, looks like we will have another week of great weather in Colorado. Probably more of the same in Texas I imagine...
