Years ago in the days of carbs, I used to close the petcock from the gas tank and run the remaining gas out of the carbs. I added a quart of sta-bil to the gas tank, put the battery tender on and waited for warm weather. fast forward to today. fuel injection means no petcock. battery tender is on. Well what about the fuel. last year I did zero to the fuel and had no issues. Anyone running sta-bil on their modern fuel injected Harley?
I just fill the tank, put the tender on it, and forget about the stabil.
It probably wouldn't do any harm but I'm only going to be off the bike for two and a half months (and I'll probably get a riding day or two in during that time).
When I lived back east, I used to store my bike for the long winter. Fill the tank, use a can of sea foam, put on battery tender, raise bike so tires were off the concrete, cover and done!

did this exact thing last year. but last year was pretty mild for a winter. I got a few days of riding in during the winter. This winter is starting off a little colder, so my in between riding days may be far and few. Although, I am concerned about fuel stabilizers with how touchy Harleys are with the gas in them.
Been using stabil for years with no problems. Bikes, mowers, tillers, snowblowers, with carbs and with FI. Only wintering I do in ND with my bikes is stabil and battery tender. Ride every month when possible...

This. Ethanol SUCKS. It will start to degrade within two weeks. So, I use Stabil if I know the bike will sit for more than two weeks. This worked wonders back when my bikes had carbs.. I just keep doing it now.
The battery tender should be standard equipment.
I travel for a living, so I tend to be home and riding a lot, or gone with a capital "G". No in-between. I always put in a little stabil before I rotate out for more than two weeks. It seems like this has helped a lot.
After seeing my neighbors struggling with their mowers and now snowblowers, I'm glad that I used Startron. I put it in my bike also. The ethanol will destroy your small engine carbs. It can't be bad to use it in your bike IMO.
