Well.. I slapped on the SE Ventilator and stood back to take a look.
It looks like it sits crooked and also the servo connector is very visible. This may be a visual throw off because of the tank badges but really weird. Has anyone installed the OEM lookalike AC that does not have the big mesh mouth and bulky plastic at the bottom (Screamin' Eagle High-Flow Air Cleaner Kit - Milwaukee-Eight Engine Part Number 29400246)? This Ventilator may be going back.

question - to install the stock cover on, did you have to buy a new cover or just remove the black shroud and screen?

When I did my stage 2 they asked if I wanted to leave the stock cover on or the Ventilator cover. So not sure if that means they are interchangeable or not. I chose the Ventilator cover, but still have the stock. I can try a swap unless someone has a definitive answer.

two different kits, both with different back plates and K&N filter elements..Ventilator more exposed and stock cover kit more protection from the environmental elements

Reuses the stock chrome piece. I have the black plastic part in a box.

I'm pretty torn with the stg 1 AC others because I for the first time like the stock element once he plastic bottom is removed.

I'm eagerly waiting for my S&S Naked to ship and see how it looks with the OEM filter cover less the OEM back plate. I figure I will see a fare amount of filter hanging out the bottom of the OEM cover. If it's to tacky I will just purchase a plain cover plate for it.

There are three basic stage 1 air cleaner kits from HD for the M8. If you like the look of the stock chrome cover only buy the High Flow kit, it's the cheapest one. Then the Ventilator which is like the CVO unit with a different badge and last the Heavy Breather. The High Flow showed the most HP in our in house testing of a Stage III (107 ->114) with all the various air cleaners. The best Torque output was the Heavy Breather AC kit.

Yea, I meant the stock Cover over the others. I forgot they're all considered stage 1. I really like the heavy breather, but not at the cost it doesn't breathe at all. Jamie at Fuel Moto and others said it's practically worthless.
