I bought a 17 special. Personally my favs of the package are the painted black inner fairing and ABS. I rarely use the nav and prefer Google maps on my phone. You can get the non special model with ABS now however, as an option... Something to consider.

They are generally pretty firm on price, can negotiate on extras, add-ins, etc.

I'm not sure how knowing what dealer cost is helps (even if its completely accurate, which is questionable).

So when informed that you have this, the rep then says "oh, ya got me!, ok, big discounts for you!". Somehow I doubt it.

If the dealer is sticking close to MSRP I would walk away there are dealers they will deal with you. Picked up my 17 RGU 3 weeks ago and wrote the check for about 900 less than MSRP which included state tax at 7% and all the other fees they tack on.

The standard SG now has the same rear shocks as the Special.

I think LOL.

You are correct sir.
I got the standard in black, the flat faring back looks fine in that color. There's nothing on the Special that I want or need. The radio is kick *** with the Boom speaker upgrade, Waze for GPS and the same excellent suspension.

Dont make your decision on the Navigation. Its close to useless. Your crazy if you dont get ABS, this is a big bike.

I wouldn't make the decision on navigation, but the touch screen is nicer on the special than the standard. I painted my inner fairing to match the color of the bike so it didnt matter to me. I hope to be happy with the anti-lock braking system and the alarm. I just went with the special and thought the extra money would halp pay for itself when you trade it off down the road also

I just purchased an 2017 SG, here are my 2 cents... I got an SG "Standard", with ABS and Security options. Suspension is the same as the Special. I personally didn't like the painted inner fairing and I don't see myself using the GPS much to justify the extra $$$$. The sound system is still awesome. After hard negotiation got it out the door (including taxes, registration and fees) for less than the MSRP (with the options) plus a $100 gift card to the store. Just have to know when to go buy and how to negotiate.

But, if you want one of the specialty colors or you want to have the larger screen and GPS, by all means spend the extra $4K, at the end of the day it's what makes you happy. YOLO.

I've read that the SGS's have pinstriping, mine does not. Buyer option or not all are pinstriped?
It has pretty much everything else, I believe.
