I may never know what the verdict is on the gear, I'm sure off to HD it will go .. the fix was new trans from HD

 

i had about 300 miles on my bike and third gear started slipping. Brought to the dealer on Monday and service technician asked how fast I was going in third gear. I told him about 30 but if I shifted into 4 the problem went away. He took it for a ride and came back and said he was going to let his head mechanic take it for a ride. When the head mechanic came back he said there was something definitely wrong with third gear. Thursday that week I had a new transmission installed at no charge. Have put about 7000 miles on since then with no issues.
