Weird gas question on a new SGS
#11
My Father-in-law and I are headed to Key West this summer on the bikes. He's never been, and was the first thing he asked about after surgery when he had a heart attack last October! I said, "Jim, if you want to ride to Key West, then were headed to Key West!"

Oh ... i love my bike break every 75 miles when just tooling around, it keeps my wife happy, and 125-150 miles when on a trip.....but I was just interested on the disparaging difference in gas left in the tank versus what I put in.....it just wasn't adding up.
I will report once and if it stabilizes .... love my new SGS, except for finding neutral....and the seat ....

They must always have at least a good 30 mph wind at their backs to get that kind of avg mpg. Also flat ground will help alot.

Yep my light comes on on the 17 RGU at about 170-180 miles. I have heard some claiming 45mpg plus but I am not seeing it. Stock 2017 RGU and I have keyed in my mileage and gallons at every fill up for the first just over 3K miles into the AUTOsist app on my phone. The average since day one is 38.89 MPG with a high of 40.99 on one tank. That is a mixture of riding maybe 10% at most in the city, Some Interstate cruising at 75-80 and a lot of country roads/Natchez trace 55-60 mph

I've noticed that my 17 Limited gets less average mpg than my previous 14 Limited. And that's after allowing for the 4-5% optimistic speedo/odo that the Rushmore bikes had built into them.
Seems like Harley is lying that the M8 gets 10% better mpg over the previous TC's. Most here haven't seen it.
