Default HDFS gap insurance?

I was talking with a guy that just bought the 2009 CVO Road Glide and he had made a comment that HDFS provides free gap insurance... Is this true?

I just bought the last 09 SG from my dealer in Conroe TX and bought the HD gap coverage for a one time fee of 799.00. Don,t know if they would give it away. It's administered through Arch ins co. They did deduct shipping and dealer make ready as well as giving me my 1k 5k and 10k for free. Just my experiance yesterday 8/29/09.

Greetings,

It's up to the dealer's descretion on if they throw it in or not. If you're financing a new bike, you'd be stupid not to get it. You'll get hung out to dry if you total it out within the first 3 years of your loan.

I've always gotten it on any Vehicle I finance. Never got it free though. Never had to use it either. Bet if I don't get it next time I'll need it for sure.

Check with your insurance company, it may be a lot cheaper.
We just bought a new "cash for clunkers" car, the dealer offered us GAP insurance for something like $695. Our insurance company has it for $8 a year on a $30K car.

Now that I think about it... I think I bought it too. What the guy was talking about was our HD Dealer was giving that away as part of a deal to get rid of the bike. I mean $31K is kinda hard to sell to anyone less than 04/05 in the military. Heck it cost me $24K for my UC and people look at me funny as a E6... luckily I am paying off my car next month LOL....
