Thumbs down progressive insurance

due to flood my 08 fatbob was under 30 inches of water. insurance company took it to dealer. when the adjuster looked at it, he told them to "just fix it". although told that there would be sewer water in the frame, they called and told me the bike was fixed. when i arrived at the shop, on the receipt it stated"frame is comtaminated with sewer water". took 4 days and many phone calls to get to talk to anyone. finally i get supervisor and tell him i at least want the frame replaced. he calls in a few days and tells me they won't replace the frame but to please me , he is willing to pay to take everything off the frame , turn it upside down and spray glass cleaner into the weep holes. then shake it ,turn upright and put everything back on. i refused. the banks tell me that they would not loan money on my bike because it has been underwater . the harley store says that they don't want it for a trade in plus now the cylinder is rusting, the pipes are rusting outside the frame inside and out is rusting and the cylinder head is rusted. had to hire a lawyer.... remember, this is progressive insurance that says that they have everything you need. they forgot customer service

Wow bro...that sucks...sorry to hear that...kinda sounds like the dealer is the problem? Did you call progressive and let the know your bike is essentially turning to crap as each day goes by and should be totaled? I would also assume that this would be covered under homeowners or some type of flood insurance ... correct?

Well i wish you all the best with your current situation!

Not a good situation. First off I would have been with the bike when it was brought to the dealer to make sure all was going to be fixed correctly. I would have got a copy of the estimate to make sure all was going to be fixed or replaced as needed.

Like anything else you have to double check everything everyone does if you want it done right. That goes from your ins. adjuster to the dealer. The insurance company is going to go the cheap route to save them some money.

Lastly it seems like your dealer didn't help the situation either. They should have told the adjuster that the frame needed to be replaced. Just thinking about how the insurance adjuster and dealer would do this to a customer kind of tics me off.

I have to say I have had good luck with them. Had liability only on my Daytona 600 when I got hit. Although they did not have to do anything they helped get me the police report, found a place to get a rental and did as much as they could. Also, now that I am on a HD, we have a Progressive rep right at the dealer. Cant beat that.

Im with Tibadoe, dealer stuck it to you, that should have told the insurance company everthing that was needed to make it right. Insurance was just going by the suggestions of the dealership, hope everything works out for you
