Default American rider in Canada

Am going to Canada to ride for a week's vacation next summer. Just found out that Medicare doesn't provide for health insurance costs outside the US. My Blue Cross/blue shield is my secondary insurance, and they only pay 20%of the allowable costs since Medicare is my primary (but not in Canada). My bike insurance doesn't offer medical in the state of Maryland either.

So what do people do (other than being careful) when riding in Canada for a week's vacation to ensure they don't give their children's inheritance to some doctor/hospital in Canada??

Have the same problem when I travel to your great country. You could probably get traveler's insurance coverage through American Automobile Assn or some other company.
