Loan value is a compelling number for anyone buying a pre-owned HD, or any other pre-owned motorcycle for that matter. Lending houses never take into consideration options or add-ons other than what came from the factory on the motorcycle when it was new. They will also never provide a loan at retail $$$ as they are not in business to loose money if the buyer faults. They lend at wholesale $$$ less accumulated risk factors based on credit score. For your bike this begins around $15,500.00. More than that and the buyer must come up with the loot to make up the difference. Hence the lack of available buyers even though you are asking well under what you paid. It is even more frustrating for sellers that sell 1 or 2 year old bikes which have been modified with aftermarket or other custom items such as pricy paint work. More often than not there is no return to the seller for these mods. We have discovered over the years that sellers achieve a greater return on their motorcycle expenditure, along with a faster resale, when the motorcycle is left stock...but who does that? Good luck with your sale.
